About the presentation: This will be a moderated panel discussion with Elizabeth Green and her team of CPA, wealth advisor, estate planning attorney and development officer who work together to achieve her charitable objectives in a tax-wise, financially savvy, estate planning perspective manner. Their coordination with each other and Elizabeth makes everyone’s role easier and more effective with their spirit of working toward a common objective with a nonprofit to create the best outcome for their client/donor.
Panel bios:
Ann Holtshouser is a partner in the Brown Smith Wallace Tax and Family Wealth Planning Group. She brings more than 25 years of experience to bear advising clients on tax issues relating to family wealth planning, estate and charitable planning, along with real estate management, insurance sales and professional services, among others. Ann provides services to high-net-worth families and individuals, family businesses and executives with comprehensive wealth management services. Ann’s areas of expertise include individual, partnership, estate, gift and trust compliance, estate planning, personal financial planning, consulting and state tax credit cost certifications.
In the real estate arena, Ann also specializes in the preparation of examinations and compilations required for state Historic Preservation and Neighborhood Preservation Tax Credit rehabilitation projects. She has over 15 years of experience dealing with the many complexities involved with the historic preservation services relating to the issuance of tax credits by the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the IRS. To acquire the greatest amount of credits possible, Ann recommends that the accountant be involved in historic renovation projects from beginning to end. Your accountant's advice at the beginning of a project can save you thousands of dollars in available credits.
Prior to joining Brown Smith Wallace, Ann began her career as a revenue agent with the Internal Revenue Service and served as a tax manager at two other local St. Louis firms. Ann is a licensed CPA and earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in Accounting from Rockhurst College. She is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is an active Board Member and Treasurer of the Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation (Missouri Preservation).
Jeffrey L. Huntington, CFRE
Jeff Huntington joined the Saint Louis Zoo in 2000 as Manager of Foundation Gifts. He became Assistant Director of Development in 2003 and since 2005 has served as Director of Development. He is responsible for managing a team of 20 who coordinate annual and major gifts. He was recognized as the Outstanding Fundraising Professional of the Year by the St. Louis Regional Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)in 2014.
Before joining the Zoo, Jeff served for six years as Executive Director of Campbell House Foundation in St. Louis. For five years prior to that, he was Executive Director of Hillforest Historical Foundation in Aurora, Indiana. Jeff also served as a Registrar’s Assistant at Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan, and as a Field Surveyor at the Historical Landmarks Foundation of Indiana in Indianapolis.
He holds an MS in historic preservation from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where he also earned a BS in American history. A graduate of the Leadership St. Louis Program - FOCUS St. Louis, Jeff has been involved in a range of volunteer activities from service as an advisor to the St. Louis County Historic Buildings Commission and as a Site Assessor for the Museum Assessment Program, to serving on the Missouri Museums Association board, the St. Louis Regional Arts Commission Citizen Review Panel, the Victorian Society in American Board, and the Senior Professionals Committee of AFP. In 2000, Jeff was recognized as a “40 Under 40” business leader by the St. Louis Business Journal.
David Grand founded Grand Financial Advisors in 2013. He joined the financial and insurance industry in 1989, working at Northwestern Mutual. He later joined his father, Mitchell Grand, at A.G. Edwards in 1994, where they served hundreds of clients’ financial needs. Since then, David’s father retired, A.G. Edwards was purchased by Wachovia Securities and later acquired by Wells Fargo Advisors. Driven to provide extensive and in-depth advice to clients, David and his associate Terry Schwartz launched Grand Financial Advisors in 2013 to provide comprehensive, advice-focused solutions to individuals and families.
With nearly 30 years of financial experience, David works directly with clients to develop and implement cash flow, income tax, and financial planning solutions. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
David is a Certified Financial Planner® professional. In addition, David is an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. This is the highest credential the IRS awards, and represents his dedication to the fields of tax planning and tax-efficient investing.
Outside of work, David volunteers at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to prepare tax returns for low-income individuals in the St. Louis area. He and his wife, Judy, have three children.
